Lyrics:
God the nation’s hitman
Hate tied to our chest,
Grace and compassion
Have died bloody deaths,
The voice in our head
The voice on the tube,
The voice tellin’ us
We’re all gonna lose
When gold is the price of health
And debt the path of life
And jobs fall by the wayside
Many millions ask why
Blank runs the country
Blank pounds my head
Blank is the color
The color of dead
And the lights go out
And the house grows cold
And I wonder what it’s like
To be a billionaire
In America.
We’re shoved tight and hard
Into a singular mold
Like so many more generations before
If uniforms were possible
And wires could be physical
We’d be tied tight to the dead temple floor.
Revolution
In the garden
From the wall I hope to see
Revolution
In the garden
We need someone we can believe
And the lights go out
And the house grows cold
And I am learning what it’s like
To be a billionaire
In America
We measure our days
And we measure our lives
By the lies we are told
And the truths we disguise
But time will not wait
And we need a change
The last chance is coming
And it won’t come again
Revolution
In the Garden
From the wall I hope to see
Revolution
In the garden
We need someone we can believe
Revolution
In the garden
We need someone we can believe
Revolution
In the Garden
Revolution
In the Garden
Revolution
Revolution
Revolution
Revolution
about
'Revolution In The Garden' is an epic explosion of revelation, defiance and hope. Produced by bassist, David J Carpenter (John Doe, Jim White) and mixed by Dave Way (Fiona Apple, Macy Gray), Dead Rock West recorded the song in Deep Covid with each band member adding their parts in their own home studios. Something they've never done before now, always recording live in the room on their past releases, yet they manage to make 'Revolution...' sound like a band staring each other dead in the eye while in full flight.
A song about privilege, corporate interest, love and life in the face of immense forces, ’Revolution In The Garden’ is a highly socially aware song 30 years in the making. Cindy Wasserman and Frank Lee Drennen deliver the words with power as the rest of Dead Rock West, including special guest, Matt Lynott from ‘The White Buffalo’ and orchestration from The Section Quartet, pulses and swells around them. Written by a young Frank Lee Drennen and sometime-collaborator, Patrick Dennis when they were an ambitious, fervent young punk-folk duo ‘The Homer Gunns’, and one night challenged by Dave Sharp of The Alarm to write something that mattered, the song tells a story more timely now than the moment it was written in. An exciting surprise from a band who always keep their rock n roll engine perfectly-tuned but carefully in check. With 'Revolution...', they’ve unleashed themselves.

They are X and this album is on fire! They show why after 40 years they are still Los Angeles punk legends! We dearly love them. As friends, tour mates and inspirations. You cannot go wrong with this. Dead Rock West

Roaring out of the gate astride a hook that won't be denied with a fuck-you attitude that's far outlived the expression it's delivered through, X debut album stands as the pinnacle of West Coast punk and one of the best of the genre at large. You also get a scorching cut of The Doors' 'Soul Kitchen', one of punk's most enduring anthems in the title track, and a closer so tight, catchy and emotionally resonating that it more than makes up for the relative dud it follows. - 9.5/10 CptHatemonger
